Of the new seven faces, the biggest name is Elle Fanning (“Super 8?), who has been cast as young Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty of the fairy tale that crosses Maleficent’s path and gets knocked out for her troubles.

She will be joined by Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville, playing pixies Knotgrass and Flittl, who end up taking care of Aurora along with a third pixie; Miranda Richardson as Queen Ulla, the fairy queen and Maleficent’s aunt; Kenneth Cranham as a human king who plots to conquer the fairy kingdom; and Sam Riley as Diaval, Maleficent’s right hand man, a raven who can change into human form. And finally, India Eisley (“Underworld: Awakening”) will be playing a young Maleficent, who will be seen in the beginning.

Jolie, of course, is playing the titular witch Maleficent, while Copley is King Stefan, the half-human, half-fairy bastard son of the human king.

The film will take the “re-imagined” approach and tell the tale from Maleficent’s point of view, with production kicking off later in June of this year. Despite that early start date, the film won’t be scheduled to hit theaters until March 14, 2014. That’s a curiously long delay.

Actress India Eisley (from ABC series The Secret Life Of An American Teenager) has landed the role of a younger Angelina Jolie in her upcoming film, Maleficent.

Jolie previously spoke of being cast as the wicked character, telling Entertainment Weekly she is determined to show the sorceress as a woman who is ‘actually a good person’ but is ‘far from perfect.’

Asked if Maleficent will be a protagonist instead of a villain, Jolie explained: ‘It’s not anti-princess, but it’s the first time they’re looking at this epic woman.’

‘I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is.’

Hilton’s report, published April 17 on his Coco Perez offshoot site, claimed that jeweler Robert Procop, who designed the ring with Pitt, had previously been successfully sued for fraud by a customer named Roy Allenstein. Allenstein supposedly discovered that the necklace he purchased from Procop contained only 17.62 carats of diamonds instead of 25.5 carats after having it appraised.

The report goes on to claim that the court awarded Allenstein $89,000 in the suit.

But Procop says that’s a lie, and now Hilton has found himself in a real-life court drama.

“The statements that Plaintiff was ‘guilty’ of fraud in connection with his jewelry business and that a court had awarded a judgment against him for that fraud is libelous on its face,” the suit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles, reads. “Those statements expose Plaintiff to hatred, contempt, ridicule and obloquy and they naturally have a tendency to injure Plaintiff in his occupation as a jeweler and jewelry designer.”

Hilton has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Procop’s attorney told TheWrap that, not only wasn’t there a judgment rendered against his client, but there was never a trial alleging that he’d defrauded a customer.

The CocoPerez report was apparently derived from a RadarOnline report, to which it links. That story has been taken down, at the request of Procop’s attorney, but according to the attorney it also claimed that a judgment had been awarded against Procop. (RadarOnline, which is not named in the lawsuit, has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.)

According to the suit, Hilton “refused to retract the defamatory statements and take down the article from his web site even after he was informed of their falsity.”

Procop is seeking more than $500,000 in general damages, plus special and punitive damages” in a sum sufficient to punish and deter Defendant from engaging in such conduct in the future.”

The city held a ceremony to bestow the honor upon Jolie yesterday. In an audio message played during the event at the National Theater, Jolie said she was “proud to now be a part of such an extraordinary part of the world and fellow citizen to the people I deeply love and admire.”

The city decided to honor the actress for her role in preserving the ‘truth about the war’ in Bosnia through her directorial debut”In the Land of Blood and Honey.”

Jolie was invited to attend the ceremony Thursday but said in her message she will be able to come in July.
